Every piece of our jewelry is handmade from the best materials available, is guaranteed authentic, and is quite often a one of a kind!
Our Silver All of our items start out with pure .999 virgin granular silver. This silver is purchased from the Peñole Family, the worlds top producer of refined silver. Fine Silver, in its purest refined state (999/1000 pure), is too soft an element for practical jewelry. There for we alloy it with pure high quality copper to enhance its durability. Typically, sterling silver consists of 92.5 percent silver (This is where the .925 number comes from) and 7.5 percent copper. You may find many of our items are stamped .950. This means less copper was added to enhance a brighter finish. When purchasing silver jewelry, always check for the .925, .950 or Sterling stamp. Other considerations, and grades of silver, are related to the number of times the alloy has been remelted. Silver that has been recycled, or remelted, may tend to develop a scaly appearance, especially when tarnished. Sometimes, this will NOT polish back out. Even silver that is stamped with .925 may exhibit this flaw, so it is important when buying jewelry to know the source of the silver. At HPSilver, all our raw materials are bought directly from the top refinery in the world, not off the open market.
Our Seashells The majority of our seashells come from Acapulco, Mexico but some have been imported from around the world. Our shells are all natural in color, however some of the pearls are color treated for special effect. On a lot of our seashell jewelry we leave the back open, so you can appreciate the true beauty of the shells.
Our Fossils Fossils are an amazing part of history. We love to incorporate fossils into our jewelry. These fossils are also purchased at the Gem and Jewelry Show in Tucson, AZ. These fossils come mostly from Morocco.
Our Gemstones We hand select our top quality gemstones direct from the source. Rough stone from many parts of Mexico are brought to Hermasillo, Mexico for cutting or cabbing. Cabachons and polished stones are then brought to Taxco. Our gemstones are collected from all over the world. We have over 20 years experience with gemstones.
Our Dichroic Glass Dichroic means two colors, and this glass appears to be different colors when viewed from different angles or in varying degrees of illumination. Dichroic glass is created by adding a thin layer of metallic oxides, which transmit certain light wavelengths while reflecting others, causing an iridescent effect. We usually leave the back of the jewelry open and translucent to show off the true beauty of the glasswork. All of our glass is handmade in Taxco.
